In Loving Memory ~
Neil passed suddenly and peacefully in Campbell River Hospital on September 21st. Following the passing of his soul mate Linda 2 years ago, he would often express his yearning to join her. Neil's wish was fulfilled.
Neil was raised with his older sister and younger brother on the Chilliwack dairy farm homesteaded by his great grandfather. In his youth Neil's spare time was consumed with his passions for fishing and hunting. He met Linda in his late teens and it was love at first sight, and that love only intensified over almost 50 years of marriage.
Neil's career in logging on the BC coast began in camps with friends and belonging to friends. When the time came to settle down Neil and Linda moved to Campbell River, along with a tide of other young people moving to the resource rich town. There they made many lifelong friends. Neil enjoyed his years in the forestry sector and when the industry slumped he retrained in a French cooking school.
He initially catered, then managed and cooked at the Campbell River Curling Club grill. Later he was employed at Cumberland Lodge, where he greatly enjoyed the residents and staff.
Neil leaves behind his beloved sons Jared (Christi) and Allan, sister Shirley (Peter), niece Leah (Tim), great-niece Kestrel, nephew Jonathan, brother and sister-in-law Doug and Stephanie, nephew Jessie, and niece Madison. He was predeceased by dear nephew Marc.
The family invites you to join them in celebrating Neil's life at 2pm, Friday, November 8, 2024 at Sutton's Funeral Home, 502 S. Dogwood Street, Campbell River.
We welcome sharing of your memories of Neil.
