Passed away on November 1, 2019 at Yucalta lodge in Campbell River BC.
Muriel was born April 25, 1934 in Vancouver BC to Gertrude and Charles Murdoch. She grew up in Vancouver and spoke of a childhood with her sister Eileen , riding bikes, fishing on the Fraser River and vacationing in White Rock. At 21 years old Muriel fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an Elementary School Teacher .She was an exceptional and well-respected teacher throughout her long career. Very soon after she married her childhood sweetheart Bill Meiklejohn and had 2 children , Tracy Charlton (nee Meiklejohn) and Gregg Meiklejohn . Muriel was always very proud and supportive of her family and especially of her grandchildren, Erin Meiklejohn, Amanda Meiklejohn, Michelle Meiklejohn, Jesse Charlton and Christopher Charlton. In 1985 Muriel married Mario Galeazzi from Campbell River, and lived on the ocean in Oyster Bay.
Muriel made Campbell river her home for 34 years enjoying a life filled with kindness, enduring friendships, community service, fishing, travel, choir, card clubs ,church and more . Its with great love and sadness that we say goodbye to Muriel, Mom, Grandma, Friend.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Jokinen and the staff/volunteers at Yucalta Lodge. Their care and genuine affection for Muriel was a blessing to our family. We’ll celebrate Muriel’s life on Dec 21, 2019, 12:00 to 1:30 at Elk Falls Cemetery in the garden room, 6400 Gold river Hwy #28 Campbell River BC.
