October 3, 1931 - October 2, 2019
We are heartbroken to announce that on the Wednesday of October 2rd, 2019, Moira Catherine Gilden R.N., loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died of natural causes in her home at the age of 87.
Born Moira Catherine McDonald on October 3rd, 1931 in Inverness, Scotland to Archibald and Grace (Gordon) McDonald.
She married three times, first to John Howard, father of her children, then to Ed Miller, then finally to Robert "Bob" O. Gilden.
She practiced as a nurse for many years, and many patients appreciated her kind and competent treatment.
She moved to Campbell River in 2010 where she became a regular sight down at the spit with her friend Ruth, and at local restaurant, Banners.
She was known as "Grammy" to her many grandchildren, a role she embraced with love and great enthusiasm.
She had a keen sense of humour, always ready with a silly comment, and possibly some amusingly foul words. She had many beloved pets, who all lived happy lives at her side.
A truly larger than life spirit, she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Mary & Roy, Jessie & Sandy, by her three children, Alison, John, and Liz, by Ed's son David and extended family, by Bob's children Leanne, Ron and extended family, by her grandchildren Katie, Deryk, Rob, Nic, Sabrina, Duncan, Bryn, Leif and by numerous great-grandchildren and extended relatives, friends and loved ones, and by her dog Charlie
As per Moira's wishes there will be no service.
