Mildred Maire

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Wife and Mother, Mildred Maire Page, on October 14, 2007, in Turkey. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband Maurice Page, daughters Myra Pagé and Mitzi Funk (Mike) and her granddaughter Mary. Mildred was predeceased by her father Verner Mattson and mother Aino (Mattson) Mertanen.

Millie was born on May 16, 1934 in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. She met Maurice in 1952 in Senneterre, Quebec and they were married June 28, 1953 in Perron, Quebec. Their eldest daughter, Myra, was born in 1958 in Espanola, Ontario. In 1961 the family moved to Ucluelet, BC where Mitzi was born in 1963 in Tofino. Maurice’s numerous mining jobs eventually led the family to reside in Campbell River in 1970.

Millie was involved in the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, the Retired Eagles Activity Club and Eagles on Wheels. She was also treasurer for both the REAC and Eagles on Wheels. She was an accomplished seamstress and artisan and spent many hours on her sewing and crafts. Millie and Maurice were one of the original members of the Campbell River Rock and Gem Club and enjoyed line dancing. Millie had three great passions: cooking, garage sales and travelling. She never missed a chance to pack her bags and go on to a new adventure. Millie visited 44 countries on six continents and had plans to visit the last continent one day. It was while on her trip to Turkey that Millie took her final and greatest journey of them all into the arms of our almighty Lord.

Funeral services are to be held October 27th, 1:00 PM at Sutton’s Funeral Home in Campbell River. Reception to follow at the Navy League Hall, 911 13th Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
