Merlyn Gordon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and husband, Merlyn Gordon Christian, who peacefully passed on at home on October 26, 2007, with his loving wife Dalcy at his side.
Merle will be greatly missed by his loving wife Dalcy Christian; eldest son, Gordon (Elaine) Christian; daughter Gayle Marchuk and youngest son David (Linda) Christian. He was loved by his grandchildren, Sara and Rebecca Christian, Lee Marchuk and Dalyn Christian. Merle also leaves behind his brother, Delmer (Evelyn) Christian and his sister, Beverley (Roy) Williston. He was predeceased by his sister, Bernice (Eric) Colton and his son-in-law, Douglas Marchuk.
As a young man, Merle worked hard on the family ranch in Lumby, BC. It was in 1948 that he moved to the small coastal town of Ocean Falls to take work as a welder. He married Dalcy in 1951. Their three children were born in Ocean Falls.
In 1961 the family moved to Campbell River. Merle continued on his welding career at the mill here until his retirement in 1988.
Merle was blessed with many Life Victories, including his loving wife of 56 years at his side until the end. He was loved and respected by all his family and his friends, as well as his co-workers throughout his career.
Merle was a generous man with all of his resources. We all loved his sharp wit and sense of humour. The only thing he liked better than working his annual vegetable garden, was sharing it’s abundance with his family and friends.
The good memories and his gentle spirit help to fill the huge void his passing leaves behind.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 228 South Dogwood Street, Campbell River, BC on Tuesday, November 6th at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Blair Haggart officiating. After the service a reception and interment to follow. Flowers are gratefully accepted, or if friends so desire, donations in memory of Merle may be made to a charity of one's own choice.
