May Myrtle Hendrickson passed away at Yucalta Lodge on December 26, 2006. May was born at New Westminster BC on July 14, 1914 to William and Violet Robertson.

On July 14, 1938 May married Ralph Ingvald Hendrickson. From their marriage, sons Robert and Barry were born.

May was predeceased in death by her parents; husband Ralph in 1997; son Robert Alan in 1997 and son, Barry William in 2004. Also, sisters, Rita Bright and Eleanor Dashwood-Jones and grandson, Darryl Hendrickson.

Left to mourn her passing are her grandchildren, Kari Koizumi (Kenneth), Kim LaCate, Keith Hendrickson, Kelly Hendrickson & Holly Dimock (Rob); Great-grandchildren: Derek and Jordan Koizumi and Dakota Dimock. Also step-great-grandchildren: Candice and Leeann Dimock; daughters-inlaw: Margaret and Diane, extended family and friends.

May received her Masters degree in Education in 1960 at UBC; Vancouver. she taught for 34 years, specializing in special education at the elementary level. In those days, the term was “Reading Specialist” and May went on to be elementary supervisor.

In her latter years, May belonged to the Campbell River Stroke Club, For many years, May was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association and also the Lutheran Women’s League.

May and Ralph were great travellers. It was May who drove their motorhome across the country. They visited Europe and Hawaii and took a cruise through the Panama Canal. At the age of 90, May had Ralph white water rafting. May loved painting in oil and drawing in charcoal. Her works are beautiful. She was able to read large print publications almost to the very end. Her fondest memories were holidays in the Okanogan and their family life on Quadra Island before moving to Campbell River.

In May’s Memory, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Bethany Lutheran Church, 201 Birch St., Campbell river, BC., V9W 2S4.

Funeral Service will take place at 201 Birch St., Campbell River, BC on Saturday December 30, at 10:00a.m., visitation prior to the servce from 9:00a.m. to 9:45a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church.

Interment to follow at Elk Falls Memorial Cemetery.
