Matti Luhtanen, long time resident of Cortes Island passed away peacefully at Evergreen Seniors Home, Campbell River, on Friday, 13 April 2018, at the age of 94.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Vuokko (Vi). He is survived by a sister, Ella Lahti (97) of Timmins, Ont., and a brother, Lawrence Luhtanen (90) (Louise, 88) of Timmins Ont., 3 nieces, Laura Pizzola of Timmins Ont., Aili McCormick of Sudbury Ont., and Kathy Moisan of Wawa Ont., 1 nephew, Lawrence Luhtanen Jr. of Timmins, Ont.
He is also survived by 2 step-children, Keith Collins of Timmins, Ont., and Donna Collins of Cardston AB.
A short graveside service will be held at the Whaletown Cemetery on Cortes Island, Friday 20th of April, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Whaletown Community Club for the expansion and maintenance of the Whaletown Cemetery will be gratefully accepted.
