LEONEW – “Matt”, aged 91 of Campbell River passed away peacefully at Campbell River & District Hospital on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 with his loving wife Inger, and his physician Dr. Rob Ralston at his side, following a battle with dementia. Predeceased by his first wife Vera, he will be dearly missed by Inger; sons Brian (Darlene), Glen and Wayne, 6 grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews, especially Wendy, who came to look after him during his last few days. Matt worked for Discovery Crane in Campbell River for 30 years, helping construct many of the city’s landmark buildings. A private family gathering will take place. For those wishing, donations in his memory to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation, 375-2nd Avenue, Campbell River, BC V9H 1A1 or the Campbell River SPCA, 490 Merecroft, Campbell River, BC V9W 7J6 would be appreciated.
