Mate Ivan
Of Campbell River, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 4th, 2008, at age 70. Predeceased by his brother Josip in Croatia and by his parents Ivan and Marija. He is survived and will be lovingly missed by his son Michael of Campbell River; his brothers Mihovil and Dragugutin in Croatia and his brother Jure in Vancouver.
He was born in Dubrava, Otocac, Croatia. Mate was a miner for most of his working life and in his leisure, enjoyed wine making, a good game of crib, and organizing pig roasts for his friends where he served his famous cabbage rolls. He was a kind hearted, genuine person who always found time to help others. He was the best father anyone could ask for. Mate will be missed as well by his fellow members of the ESL, English as a Second Language Club. For those wishing to pay their respects, viewing and visitation will take place on Saturday, February 16th from 2-4 pm at Elk Falls Memorial Chapel, Elk Falls Cemetery, Highway 28, Campbell River, prior to cremation.
