Mary Elizabeth Bickford (nee Turner), age 71, passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 10th after a short battle with cancer.
Mary was born in England and moved to Quadra Island with her family when she was 7 years old. She then moved to Campbell River when she was in high school at Carihi. In the winter of 1973, she met the love of her life, David Bickford, married in 1975, and were inseparable from the moment they met. Later they were thrilled to adopt their daughter Mallory, and have two grandchildren (Chloe 9, Edward 4). She enjoyed her 25+ year career at BCTEL working alongside her friends and her sister.
Mary was known for her love of travel, and her outgoing personality. She was an extremely loving and compassionate person, who would enjoy connecting with people everywhere she went. She would always remember the smallest of details that someone would tell her about their story, and try to find ways to connect them with others that she met along the way. Her son in law would always ask Mary if she had just made a new best friend. Mary was also known around town for her great sense of style, her love of her British roots, and her love of the colour red. She was always the definition of a true lady.
We would like to thank Dr. Mary Ramsey and Dr. Rob Ramsey for their care.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Salvation Army or another charity of your choice.
If life is measured in the ability to love and be loved, to share one's self with others in a truthful and kind way, Mary's has been a massive success.
