WAGNER,

Martin Robert

1932 - 2002

Martin (Marty) Wagner passed away suddenly at home on Friday, June 21, 2002, at the age of 69 years. Besides his loving wife of 17 years, June, he is survived by his daughters Katherine Wagner and Janine (David) Isenegger and granddaughter Claire, stepdaughters Shirley (Del) Olson, Ronna (Keith) Johnstone, stepsons Terry (Lynn) Hodge, Bradley (Lori) Hodge and eleven step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters Helen, Anne and Jessie as well as several nieces and nephews.

Marty was born and raised in Nanton, Alta. before he ventured out to start his fifty-year career in the Oilpatch, both in Canada and internationally.

During the 1950s he was a roughneck for Imperial Oil and flew as a bush pilot for Hughes Tool Service; from 1955 through 1963 Marty was Regional Sales Agent for Martin Decker Corp., Varco International and Brandt Corp. He was President of Wagner Oilfield Equipment and Wagner Oil and Gas from 1964 through 1980, and C.E.O. of Wagner Oilfield International from 1980 through 1999, after which he retired and he and his wife June enjoyed wintering in Palm Desert, Ca., and summering here in Calgary to be nearfamily and friends.

Through the course of his life, Marty enjoyed many hobbies, but his true passion was fishing and he travelled extensively to fulfill this desire. Most recently you could find him close to his “roots”, flyfishing on the Bow River.
