In loving memory ~
MARILYN ANNE DEAN Baechler was born in Regina, Sask. After a few years her family settled in Vancouver, where she enjoyed playing Scrub Baseball, singing and kicking up her heels to the oldies! She had a lifetime interest in Hollywood movies and celebrities but Doris Day shone brighter than all the rest.
She got her first job at the Royal Bank in 1958, moved to Campbell River and continued her RBC career until her retirement in 2000. In 1961 she married Guy Baechler, built their Old Peterson Rd home and raised their son, Robbie. Marilyn and Guy divorced in 1978.
Eventually Marilyn moved to Forde House where she delighted in her new home, neighbours and volunteer work. Marilyn helped establish the Seniors Centre; enjoyed her Dragonboat Team and T.O.P.S. gals. Some of Marilyn's favourite things were: TCM (Turner Classic Movies); the Blue Jays and LA Dodgers; desserts; the colour turquoise; Coronation Street; Blue Jeans and vests; frogs; Bingo and a good joke! A favourite pastime was bird watching. She loved all animals but especially dogs and think nothing of cooking up a roast beef on Sunday - just for the dogs!
After some health setbacks, Marilyn decided she was ready to move on. At the age of 86, she chose Friday December 13th as her last laugh.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Germaine (Barren) Dean; siblings Lorna, Shirley, Fred and Norman. Sadly, her greatest heartbreak was when she lost her son Robbie in the summer of 1998. Marilyn is survived by several loving nieces and nephews, countless dear friends and especially Kevin and his wife Lee who have been Marilyn's caregivers these last years. Thanks for the memories, Marilyn! You will be missed and remembered for your laughter and joy of living!!
