Turner (Evans)

“Grannie Turner"

Grannie passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, four days after suffering a stroke. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1999, also three sisters and their spouses in the U.K. She leaves behind her son Mike (Pat) Turner, daughters Sallie Ellis, Jane (Don) Merrick, Mary (David) Bickford, and son-in-law Casey (Joyce)deGroot.

Grandchildren; Sharon (Kevin) Rondquist, Paula (Dave) Fowler, Mike(Kelly) Turner, Chris (Naomi) Ellis, Kim (Rick) Hrybko, Simon (Sheena) deGroot, Charles (Brenda) deGroot, Kristina (Tony) Scherer, and Mallory Bickford (Dave).

Ten great-grandchildren; Kurran, Jacob, Seever, Alice, Mary, Kaitlyn, Chelsey, Natalie, Emma, and Abigail.

Grannie was born in Carlton-on-Trent, England on February 25, 1917 - later moving to Tuxford where the family lived until 1958 when she joined her husband (with four children and a black lab in tow) on Quadra Island

where their new home was waiting. In the late sixties, the family moved to Campbell River. Between family, friends, and all her pets, Grannie lived a full life. She was “Grannie” to many children besides her own and enjoyed

every minute of her time caring for them. In her latter years she rescued many kitties, giving them a safe and happy home. Grannie was a true little lady who left us with a high standard of caring, compassion, and work ethic to live up to. No service by request. In the Spring, a tea will be held in Grannie’s garden when her flowers are in bloom. In lieu of flowers, please make

a donation to the “Building Fund for the New S.P.C.A.” a cause dear to Grannie’s heart.

Many thanks to the nurses of Third Floor South, Drs. Shule, and DeBruin for caring for Grannie so well - Pat and Al Hodgkinson, Noel and Colleen Smith, Lillian and Glen Twells, and Joy and Mike Hrybko for being the

good friends they were to Grannie.

In the Spring, when you plant your garden, have a happy thought of little Grannie Turner.
