Passed away quietly on Saturday May 15 at the Campbell River General Hospital with her family at her side.

Margaret was predeceased by her life-long friend and husband Nelson on May 19, 2001. Margaret is survived by her sister, Cathy Harbottle of Calgary. Margaret is also survived by her six children: Terry (Tom), Karen (Neil), Colleen (Mike), Shawn (Susan), Kathy (David), Tim. Also survived by grandchildren: Courtenay, Brianne, Tara, Brooke, Patty, Angela, Carleen, Benjamin, Jeremy, Kayla, Mariah and great grandchildren Maddison, Dylan, Haylee.

Margaret was born Arpil 21, 1925 in Calgary, Alberta. As a young child she moved to Winnipeg where she lived until Nels returned from the Canadian Airforce and swept her off her feet in 1945. Nelson later returned to the airforce and they returned to a military life. Serving at RCAF MacDonald Manitoba, RCAF Zweibrucken Germany, and finally CFB Comox British Columbia where Nels retired in 1972. Moving to Campbell River, Margaret was reknown for her cooking skills at the Strathcona Gardens. Margaret was once cited in the local paper as the “Hotdog Queen of Campbell River”. Margaret will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at the United Church at 415 Pinecrest Street, Campbell River, on Thursday May 20 at 1:00p.m. A Reception will follow in the Church Hall.

The family of Margaret Mooney would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Douglas, the nurses and support staff of the 2nd floor at the Campbell River General Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.
