Margaret passed away peacefully at Sunshine Lodge on Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the age of 85. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold Welsh. Predeceased by son William Roach and brother Duncan Campbell; also survived by sons Arnold (Christine) Welsh of Campbell River, Harvey (Daphne) Welsh of Comox and Lawrence (Audrey) Welsh of Duncan; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth Johnson and Mary Scoular; brothers Bill Campbell (Lennis) and Stewart Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a long term Campbell River Bridge Club member, where she achieved the highest level, Senior Master. Bridge was a passion of Margaret’s. She often played in tournaments that took her across Canada and the USA. One of her highlights was playing against Omar Sharif, in Las Vegas, one of the world’s best known contract bridge players.
Margaret enjoyed gardening. Some of her favourite flowers were daffodils and carnations. She also took pleasure in baking cookies with her grandchildren. Solitaire at the kitchen table was another activity she also enjoyed very much.
Thank you from our hearts to the nurses of Sunshine Lodge, Campbell River, Saint Joseph’s extended care ward and to the nurses of Campbell River Hospital extended care ward for all the care and attention you gave to Margaret. Special thanks as well to her niece Trudi Garratt.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation, Sunshine Lodge. Arrangements entrusted to ISLAND FUNERAL SERVICES/ELK FALLS CREMATORIUM.
Margaret, you will be dearly missed by all your family and friends. You gave us so much with no expectations and touched our lives so greatly! We know you are in a better place of peace with your Heavenly Father.
