The family of Jim Cooper is saddened to announce his passing in Courtenay, BC on February 10th in his 101st year.
He is survived by his children, Gail Lowry , Sharon Johnston and Brian Cooper (Sue).
Dad was proud Grampa to 3 Grandsons, Brent Johnston, Eli and Isaac Cooper, and 6 Great Grandchildren Jesse and Marcus Johnston, Madison, Caiden, Lilia and Kylie Cooper.
He had 2 sisters, Freda Bourassa and Joan Shaw and 1 brother Gordon Cooper.
Jim was born in Marshall, Saskatchewan April 24, 1921, and moved to Calgary as a young man. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force prior to the beginning of WWII.
After a long career in the Air Force Jim retired and moved to British Columbia. During his time of service, he met and married his life partner Connie. They raised their three children in various postings in Canada and France and celebrated 54 years of marriage.
After the passing of Connie in 2000, Jim moved to Vancouver Island and enjoyed 20 years of fun, family and friends.
Dad was a remarkable man and people were in awe that he was able to live on his own till the end. He still baked, cooked, sewed, loved his Jigsaw puzzles and football games. He had a sharp wit and his mind was young. He could play any card gamed invented.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Bert and Kitty Cooper, both his sisters Freda and Joan as well as his brother Gordon.
Very special thank you to the doctors and medical staff at the Comox Valley Hospital for the care given to Dad.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Comox Valley Legion Poppy Fund.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
