HENDERSON,

Lucy“Diane” (CHICKITE)

August 18, 1944 —

September 14, 2005

Diane passed away at her daughter Shelley’s home after a courageous battle with cancer. Left behind with loving memories is her husband Sam HENDERSON Jr., daughter Shelley HENDERSON, adopted son and daughter (through Custom adoption) Jesse and Erika HAUNCH, honourary son Ronnie CHICKITE (Lennai), and honourary Granddaughter Karsyn CHICKITE. Survived by her brothers Allen (“Ole”), Harold and Melvin; and sisters Caroline, Anita, June, Geraldine, Gloria and Brenda, uncles, Aunts, many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She will be reuniting with her son Dale HENDERSON, parents Ed and Annie (SEVILLE) CHICKITE, brother Ralph and sisters Pauline and Brenda Ann.

Diane was very well-known for her canning, baking and cooking, and didn’t know how to cook a small amount — always cooking for an army! She expressed her creative nature through the crafting of traditional blankets and ceramics. She spent many years of her life out on the water commercial fishing with her father, brother and husband.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Garson, Dr. Walker and the home care nurses (Janine, Heather, Michelle and Kari) for their compassionate care. We would especially like to acknowledge her personal care worker Gail, who went above and beyond the call of duty. We’ll never forget all those who came to provide us with your support and those who brought us food. Your kindness was much appreciated.

At Diane’s request there will not be a funeral or memorial service, Instead, her family will be holding a private burial of her ashes in Cape Mudge at a later date.

Donations may be made in Diane’s honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.
