Just as she had always lived her life with grace and dignity, Mrs. Lorraine Olive Alice Lewis (nee Patten) passed away on August 12, 2005 at the age of 76 years.
Lorraine was born in Merritt, BC and lived in that area until she moved to Quadra Island in 1942. It was on Quadra Island that she met the love of her life, George Oscar Lewis, whom she married on March 16, 1946.
Lorraine’s happiest times were when she was beside George. together they raised seven children. Together they fished on the West Coast during salmon season for many years. Together was what she lived for. since George’s passing almost 9 years ago she really didn’t know how to find her way.
Lorraine loved country & gospel music and would sing along with the songs right up to the day she slipped into a coma.
Although she was happiest being in her own home there were times in her life when she was a Brownie leader, sang in the Cape Mudge United Church choir, was involved in the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.
Lorraine lived on Quadra Island until October of 2004 when, after a severe fall in her home, she moved to Victoria to live with her daughter, Gloria and son-in-law, Chuck. It was there she joined her husband, in heaven for eternity.
Lorraine is survived by her seven children-Georgina Robertson(Andy), Skip Lewis, George Lewis Jr. (Lynne), Kevin Lewis, Gloria Schnick (Chuck), Gail Stoller (Dan), Kim Rochette, 20 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

Lorraine was the middle child of the late Garnet and Laura Patten. Predeceased by her sister, Gwen Sehestedt and her brother Garnet Patten, whom she adored.
Lorraine will be laid to rest with George in the Quadra Island cemetery on Saturday, August 20th at 1p.m.
All who wish to attend are welcome.
