Lorane Moore

September 23, 1915 to June 22, 2009

Predeceased by her parents, two sisters in their early childhood, and her husband, Percy H. Moore.

She is survived by her children, Ellen Nutting, (Ted), Edith Nutting, (Bill), Amanda Burke-Gaffney, Tom), Martha McGivern, (Kevin) and her son, Willie Moore, (Val); 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law, 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Our mom was born on her parents’ farm in Lake Isle, Alberta. She lived there until she married our father, at which time they built a farm together in Stanger, a few miles away. After a tornado wiped out everything they owned, our father came to BC looking for a property for sale, finding the Bill Sacht piece of land. Mom came out from Alberta, approved of it all, went back, gathered up and brought her goods and animals and the first 3 of her 5 children to Sayward. We all lived there happily with 2 additions to our family! She lived on the same property until she sold it to the Pickerings a few years ago. She has lived happily in her little apartment in Campbell River until her death.

Our mom was a very strong person, able to deal with whatever came her way. She was especially fond of her family and taught us all well. Her gardening and farm animals were favourite hobbies. Music was her greatest pleasure. She lived her life exactly as she pleased, stubbornly refusing to allow anything to defeat her. Mom, we are missing you. We love you very much.

No flowers please. You may donate to the charity of your choice. An open service will be held at the Heritage Hall, Sayward, Saturday, June 27 at 11:00 am.
