Lois Kathleen Laliberte (nee Cunningham). Regrettably, Lois passed away on the evening of Friday, August 31st, 2018, 17 days after her 83rd Birthday. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Margaret (Newman) Cunningham, her four brothers Ken, Bob, Gordon and Bill; her oldest son, Larry, her husband, Laurent and son-in-law, Duncan White. She is survived by her son James (Agnes) and their children Tracy (Fil) and their children Dustin, Kira and Elyse; John (Kathy) and their children Cora, Carys, Meadow and Liv; April and her children Angelica, Terell and Nikolai; and
Bobby-Joe (Illyla) and their children Emett and Van; her daughter, Lynda (Johan) and her son Ken (Sharon), and Ken's children Andrew (Emily) and Chantelle (Brendan). She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Sharon Cunningham, Helene Masson and Aline LeBlanc and three brothers-in-law Ernest Laliberte, Philip Laliberte and David Laliberte.
Lois was born in Prince George, BC and met our father Laurent there when he was working as a faller. They married in 1952 and moved to Laurent's family farm in Saskatchewan in 1953. They lived on the family farm for 32 years and in 1986 they retired and moved to Campbell River. Lois was a woman of many skills. On the farm she enjoyed her gardening, sewing, crocheting and knitting. When they retired, she discovered many other forms of needle work such as cross stitch, tatting, rug making, smocking quilting, hardanger, bobbin lace and all kinds of knitting to name only a few needle work skills she mastered. She also spent a couple of days a week at the Needle and Arts Centre for 13 years teaching people various types of needle working. However, when she discovered sock knitting, she was in her glory and everyone around her received a pair of her home knit socks. Lois was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to us all, and we will miss her always.
The family would like to thank Dr. Verapen, the nurses in charge of her care and specifically her health care aid, Laurie (who Lois called grandma) at the Campbell River Hospital for their professional and compassionate care that Lois received. We would also like to thank Al and Angie Aalgaard for all their care of Lois and assistance to Lynda over the years. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
