With aching hearts, Lisa's family shares the news that Lisa passed away March 17 from CNS Lymphoma. She died peacefully at home, in the place she loved, with family at her side.
Lisa is survived by her husband Christopher; parents John and Shari; brothers Nick, Tom, and Jesse; grandparents Bob and Carol Garvin and Sophie Green. She will also be missed by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by grandfather Nicholas Green.
Lisa will be remembered for her kind heart, strong will, and adventurous spirit. She was a food scientist and dietetic intern, working toward becoming a Registered Dietitian. She was also an avid hockey fan, and she loved camping, ice fishing, surfing, and powerlifting. She felt most at home on the coast and valued family above all.
Despite two cancer diagnoses in her last five years, Lisa was a fierce warrior, facing every challenge head-on with incredible grace. Though her years were cut short, Lisa's life was a life well lived. She was loved beyond measure.
Lisa's family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support throughout her illness. Thank you to all who've offered prayers, kind words, practical help, and financial assistance.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Lisa's wish to get home to Vancouver Island a reality: to Steve, Andrea, and Carli for rallying the team; to 99.7 2Day FM and the many relatives, friends, colleagues, and strangers who responded with love and generosity; and to Alkan Air and LifeSupport Air Medical Services for their compassion.
Special thanks to Dr. Willem Prinsloo, to the healthcare teams who cared for Lisa in both Campbell River and HSC Winnipeg, and to the congregation of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
