June 23, 1925 – February 4, 2015

It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Leslie Cable on February 4, 2015 in Campbell River Hospital.

Les was born on the 23rd June 1925 in Blackhall Colliery, County Durham in the north-east of England. He is predeceased by his five siblings: Emmy, Claire, Audrey, Bob and Benny and parents Joseph Benjamin and Sarah Jane. Les is survived by nephew Stephen Darwin and niece Joy Jones.

He left the UK in 1957 to seek fame and fortune in Canada and settled in Campbell River, surrounded by a family of close friends. Les travelled back to see his family almost every year.

He enjoyed the trips to the States for gambling, until his health hindered travel.

Les is known for karaoke, loved to sing “New York, New York” and “Danny Boy”. Les played darts and pool. He was a bachelor all his life which I think suited him as I am certain all who knew him well would agree. Les loved camping at the lake every summer for days of sun, fish and beer. Les will be sorely missed by all.

Service to take place Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00pm, Eagles Hall in Campbell River. A ceremony for a fallen brother followed by an open house.
