In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Elizabeth Brooks on May 18, 2025, at the age of 74.
Laura was born on June 5, 1950, in Oliver, BC to Leonard Alaric and Maxine Chasteauneuf (Nee Webster). Loving daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Laura will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.
Laura married her beloved husband, Robert Allan Brooks, in 1990. Their love drew Allan from The Yukon to the Island and they shared a strong and loving marriage. Laura was a devoted Mom to Todd and Danielle (predeceased). She was an active and involved grandmother to Drew, Destiny, Wyatt (Madison), Caren, Koka (grand puppy), and more recently to Amber, Aimee (Jason) and great granddaughter Isabelle (Izzy). They all knew that "Grandma was the Boss" and that they were loved dearly.
Laura is survived by the above along with her mother Maxine, sister Cheryl (John), brother Jack (Joan), brother-in-law John and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sister Margo predeceased her.
Laura worked as a Financial Assistance Worker for what is now known as the BC Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. In her work and life, Laura's kindness and compassion touched the lives of many. She has blessed her family and friends with a lifetime of memories. Camping with the grandchildren brought her a special happiness. Her friends all held a cherished place in her heart. Laura's departure leaves a void in our lives, yet there is comfort in the memories and everlasting love she shared with all who were privileged to have known her.
The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the paramedics, firefighters and the emergency staff at Campbell River Hospital. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to MARS Wildlife Rescue.
The family will gather in the summer to celebrate and remember Laura.
