Larry passed away November 19th, 2017 after a hard fought and long battle with cancer.

He leaves behind to deeply mourn him, Jean, his wife of 55 years, and beloved daughter Kathy Turunen (his Kitten), two special granddaughters, Katie and Mel, and his son-in-law and friend, Ari Turunen.

Larry also leaves behind his sister, Dona (Michael) French, brother Wayne (Lynn) Wickens many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.

He was predeceased by his son David in 1990 and brother Ron in 2003.  

Larry was born in Victoria, BC to Herbert and Cypress Stevens while his Dad was serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during the WWII. His Dad was transferred to Halifax where he served in the Atlantic. The family moved back to the west coast after the war ended, finally settling in Burnaby where he grew up. He met Jean in high school when she was 14 and he 16, became her sweetheart, and remains so forever.

Special thanks go to his cancer care nurses, Tammy, Faith, Deb, Rebecca and Candace; to Dr. Douglas and to Dr. Morrison who made his battle with his disease easier to bear.

Also thanks to Ingrid, Cherisa, and Clarizza of unit 3C at CRH for their compassionate care at the end of his life.
