It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken. He passed away peacefully at home after a brief battle with cancer under the care of his loving partner, Sandra Williamson and his mother, Janet Pardiac by his side. He is survived by his mother, Janet Pardiac, his partner, Sandra Williamson and her family, son, Stephen, (grandson, Landon), son Cameron and daughter Kimberley of Courtenay. Ken is also survived by son, Jesse Pardiac (Lyndsay); grandchildren, James, Jack, John and Zoey of Fort Nelson, B.C., his daughter, Kayla Pardiac (Anthony) of Edmonton, Alberta, by his sister, Shelley Pardiac-Arundel (Willy); nephews, Robert and Joseph of Ladner, B.C. Born and raised in the Comox Valley, Ken also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends on Vancouver Island. Ken is pre-deceased by his father, Roy Joseph Pardiac.
During Ken's early years he enjoyed skiing, horseback riding, and playing guitar in a band. Ken was always passionate about cars, motorbikes, boats and trucks and taking good care of them. He started his first job at Island Ready Mix but went back to commercial fishing in his twenties. The last boat he ran was his pride and joy, Simba II, which was a shrimp boat. As commercial fishing declined, he returned to Island Ready Mix in Campbell River and worked to the completion of the John Hart Dam project.
Ken did his best to say goodbye to everyone he knew while he was well enough. He expressed deep gratitude to Ron Carter, Carly and the team at Island Ready Mix for their friendship and compassion.
The family would like to offer a special acknowledgement of thanks to the Metis who were kind and generous during this difficult time. Ken and the family appreciated the professional, kind care of the doctors and nurses at Comox Valley Hospital and the palliative care nurses that provided home care.
