KEN STONE

14th September 1945

– 16th September 2009

Ken was a decent, kind, caring man who loved his family, respected his friends and treated everyone with a humane and gracious courtesy.

Born in Leeds, he married Lynne, his best friend and soul mate, in 1977. They immigrated to Canada that same year

and brought up their sons Ian and Paul in Port Alice, Quatsino and Campbell River.

Ken had unbridled pride in his boys, and was very pleased for Paul when he married Charlene.

Ken turned his love of hiking in the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors into a love of fishing in Quatsino Sound and Queen Charlotte Strait.

As for Ken’s joy in playing cricket, he transplanted it. He was a founding member of the Campbell River Willows Cricket Team. As a football fan his passionate support of Manchester United continued through his life.

Ken was also passionate about politics and was a long-time member of the NDP. He took on many challenges for the NDP because of his commitment to social justice.

Ken was a very skilled machinist and also had worked as an instructor at North Island College.

Everyone who knew Ken enjoyed his stories, was embraced by his warm heart, and touched by his gentle soul. He will be missed.

There will be an informal gathering to Celebrate the Life of Ken at the Willow Neighbourhood Pub on Sunday, October 4th 2009 from 3.00pm – 5.00pm.

If you would like to make a donation in Ken’s memory please make it to the BC Cancer Foundation, Suite 600, 686 West Broadway, Vancouver BC V5Z 1G1.
