BIRCH, Keith Martin

August 9, 1948 - August 18, 2008

Keith passed away peacefully at St. Joe's Hospital after a long illness. He moved to the Comox Valley in 1992 where he was known through is business Mountainaire Info X (Minfox.com) after graduating from North Island with a Diploma in Computer Science in 1996. Keith worked as manager of Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society, where he performed website management, fundraising, building construction & maintenance.

Keith worked for Western Forest Products as a Heavy Duty Mechanic in Lake Cowichan and Sewell Inlet QCI. Met Maj and worked briefly for Dupont Baker Mine near Smithers in 1981. They moved to Quintette Coal in Tumbler Ridge in 1985 where he became a Maintenance Planner. He enjoyed a good life with his wife, Maj and the dogs. He is survived by his sisters Sheila in Los Angeles, CA and Leeta in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Keith loved loud music, fine food and good wine. He was an audiophile, a (Grateful) Deadhead, becoming a grape groupie and a pretty good cook. He was a member of the Planetary Society, a coin collector, BBS'er, scuba diver, sea kayaker and gardener.

A Celebration of Keith's life will be held August 25th, from 3:00 to 5:00p.m. in the garden of MARS Wildbird Centre, 6817 Headquarters Rd. in Merville, BC.
