October 9, 1931 - February 12, 2022
Kathleen Eleanor O'Neill passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022, leaving many grieving family and friends.  She survived husband John William O'Neill (2015) and grandson George Willian Zwiers (2019).
Eleanor and John were married for 60 years, and they were blessed with three sons:  Mark (Lisa), Kent (Teresa) and Graham (Helena); grandchildren Teralee, (Brandon), Charla (Kevin), Alicia (Johnny), Megan (Stefan), Kaylin (Chris), Shannon (Chad), Sean, Aaron (Sarah), Brendan (Jaclyn), and Eve:  great grandchildren Sofia, Wyatt, Riley, Carson, Mason, Everett, Gustav, Oliver, and Elsie.
Eleanor was born in Toronto in 1931 where she met John in childhood. They married in 1955 and moved to Manning Alberta where John was starting out as a United Church of Canada minister. Their growing family lived in Lethbridge AB, Connecticut, and Richmond BC.
In 1986 mom herself was ordained as a United Church minister and shared a pastoral charge with John at Lynn Valley United Church in North Vancouver BC where they again moved.
Retirement came in 1994, but Eleanor continued to work with many Church and community activities in North Vancouver. She moved to Berwick retirement home in Campbell River BC in 2016 where Mark and Kent and other family now live. She enjoyed her time at Berwick until December of last year due to declining health related to series of small strokes. This condition led to her eventual passing.
She was an amazing woman (really, she was!!) and a more amazing mother.
Her life was a journey of giving and loving everyone with completeness and unconditional acceptance.
A Memorial Service for Eleanor will be held on Saturday March 12th at 1:30 pm at the Campbell River United Church with an interment of her ashes at Highlands United Church Memorial Garden on April 9th. In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be sent to: Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada at donorinfo@heartandstroke.ca
