It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Justyna, our beloved Mom and Babcia. She passed away peacefully with family at her side on October 17, at the age of 80.
Justyna was born in Kosily, Poland on October 26, 1938. She moved to Canada in 1959 to marry Stan. They lived in Ocean Falls where Stan worked in the pulp and paper mill and their 2 daughters were born. They were married for almost 43 years until Stan passed away in 2002.
Justyna loved being a mother and making a happy home. She cooked and baked, sewed and knitted, and enjoyed growing fruit, vegetables and flowers.
In 1972 the family moved to Campbell River and into their house on Thulin Street. Justyna and Stan loved having guests and were well known for their hospitality.
When the girls were older Justyna worked in retail and was store manager of Reitmans for many years.
One of Justyna's greatest joys was being Babcia to Rebecca and Kyle. She cherished her time with them. She was very social and enjoyed spending time with friends. Church was also a big part of her life. Her Catholic faith was strong. She attended mass each week and was a member of the Catholic Women's League for over 50 years.
She is predeceased by her parents Otylia and Kazimierz, her loving husband Stan, brother Zdzislaw and sister Teresa.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters Theresa (John) and Deborah, her grandchildren Rebecca and Kyle, and her nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank Dr Robert Ramsey, her home care workers and the kind and caring staff at Yucalta Lodge.
Prayer Vigil will be held at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church Friday October 25 at 7 pm with the Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 26 at 11 am at Saint Patrick's. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
