Julie was born on August 10th, 1937 in Port Alberni. She is survived by her husband Wilf of 57 years, her two daughters Shelley Gardner (Dane), Maria Winser (Darrel), her brother Jim Hamilton, her sister-in-law Marie Becker (Gordon) and her five grandchildren Eric, (Julie) Brad, (Crystal) Sarah, Michael, Adam and her great grandchildren.

Her spirit and life took her to living in Port Renfrew, Seattle, Nebraska, Clo-oose, (her place of peace), Duncan, and finally settling in Campbell River in 1967. Prior to settling here Wilf and Julie raised their two daughters spending many years in isolated logging camps experiencing hard work and family adventure on our BC coast. Julie worked as a Service Clerk for ICBC & eventually retired after 23 years at Service BC. Many winters after retirement were well spent “Snow birding” south of the border and traveling extensively through the United States. Road trips, a beautiful cruise or a flight to a tropical destination was what made Julie happy, she loved to explore...

Julie touched so many of our hearts in life. She was beautiful inside and out, very generous and kind to all she knew. She loved to garden and spend time in the sun, she had even more plans to travel by land and sea, re-decorating, cooking and entertaining with loved ones was so much her passion at home. She also loved to camp and hike in the great outdoors, she’s seen more remote, untamed BC wilderness than we will ever be able to know. She was happiest with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family gathered, laughing and eating good food. She loved our neighborhood pot lucks and quality time in the back yard chatting about the gardens when all had finished a good day of yard work. She loved visits from her many outgoing friends and encouraged all to be positive and adventurous and to try and live your life doing what makes one truly happy.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks and overwhelming gratitude to the amazing Palliative care team and the care workers who looked after Mom.

A Celebration of Julie’s life will take place on Saturday, May 7th from 1-4 pm at 3927 Seamist Drive, Stories beach, Campbell River.
