Judith Margaret Birchall (nee Bunten)

July 30, 1938 – December 30, 2019
“When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.
I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply May forget.”
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy on December 30th, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband Doug Birchall, her brother Sandy Bunten, and her parents Matthew and Isobel Bunten.
Judy is survived by her daughter Shannon Murphy and grand-daughter Sundara Ziegler of San Francisco as well as her son Scott Kratzmann of Campbell River. Nephews Matthew and Dale Bunten of Vancouver also. In addition, numerous cousins and extended family all over British Columbia.
Judy was born in Port Alberni and was raised in Campbell River. She was adored by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. As a graduate of St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, she had a long and successful career as a nurse. This career gave her an opportunity to live in both North Carolina and California for many years, which she enjoyed very much.
