Joyce May Wilson

October 21, 1924 - December 17, 2013

We are saddened to announce the passing of Joyce Mary Wilson on December 17, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 yrs, Dennis; her four sons, Kenneth, Rodney (Sharon), Barry (Donna), Stacy (Mimi); six grandchildren, Selena, Lindsey, Clayton, Katie, Byron and Jessica; and eight great-grandchildren, Cooper, Lexia, Kaisley, Linden, Coralie, Oliver, Keenan, and Benjamin.

Joyce was born on October 21st, 1924 in Halfway Lake, Alberta. Joyce and Dennis moved to Campbell River in 1959 and raised their family here. Having being raised on a farm she was a great mentor to her own family and taught many skills in cooking, preserving and gardening. She had a passion for travel and was able to visit many countries. She led a very active life, which included many volunteer organizations such as Cub Scouts, Minor ball, football, schools, Tidemark Theatre, and the Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a strong woman who fiercely loved her family. She was feisty right to the end. Granny was always up at the crack of dawn, ready and roaring to go; no sleeping in with her! Only now will she rest in peace. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Veerapen and all the hospital staff that tended to her.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation. A memorial service was held at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church on January 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
