Joy Fowler, 83, fell asleep peacefully with family at her side, on October 9th, 2016 at The Views Hospice in Comox.
Predeceased by husband of 47 years, Ron Fowler in 2000; their three children Gordon, Kenny and Debbie in 1964; sister Marion Osborne in 2014. Survived by three generations of nieces and nephews, Hall family cousins, in-laws, and their families.
Joy was raised in Campbell River and Port Alberni. She was a grandchild of the Hall family, early pioneers on Quadra who homesteaded Gowlland Harbour. She had many fond memories of childhood summers spent on the ranch. Married to the love of her life in 1953, Ron and Joy moved to Quadra in 1957 and never left. Joy was in her element here - exploring the beaches and woods, collecting salal or mushrooms, with dogs always by her side. Joy's life was directed by her love for Jehovah God. Her faith in the Bible, especially the promise of a resurrection to a coming paradise earth, sustained her through many challenges. Joy will be missed so much. She was a generous, loving, strong woman with a tender heart and a terrific sense of humor.
Our deepest gratitude for the wonderful care Joy received during her illness from friends and professionals alike, including each nurse and care aide that helped at home, The Views hospice staff, and special thanks to Dr. Keith Graham.
A memorial will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 835 Heriot Bay Road, Quadra Island. A tea will follow.
