March 1, 1953 - December 9, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of John "Johnnie" Vincent Hedderson announces his passing on December 9, 2020 at the age of 67.
John lived life to the very fullest and died peacefully with family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years Pamela, his children Lisa (Alan) and Julie (Evan, Roselyn, Weston), and his siblings Bill (Janet), Marilyn (Rick), Ken (Nancy), Ed (Caroline), and Cheryl.
Born in Ontario John hitchhiked his way to BC in his youth and fell in love with the West Coast and his wife Pamela. They started a family in Pender Harbour where he worked as a Log Scaler in the BC Forestry Service and volunteered in the fire department and BC Ambulance Service.
After moving to Campbell River in 1989 and recovering from a stroke he became very active in the community, participating in the Campbell River Stroke Recovery Association, Canadian Diabetic Association, Shoreline Musical Theater, Pacific Animal Therapy, Campbell River Head Injury Society, St. Peter's church choir, Singing for Fun, and Disabled Skiiers Association of BC.
John was often seen biking around town, for many years with his German Shepherd 'Neet' by his side. It is impossible to describe John's genuine, outgoing and charismatic personality; he freely shared his love and positivity with everyone.
He had friends in all corners and his strength and determination throughout health issues was recognized with the Courage to Come Back Award in 2015. He was a fierce health advocate and often asked 'have you heard about Aphasia?' The smile and twinkle in John's eye will be missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorial donations can be made to Singing for Fun at Campbell River Community Centre, 250-286-5307 or deb.simpson@campbellriver.ca
