May 4, 1950 - September 9, 2019
Rick Collis was born in Ottawa on May 4, 1950 and passed away at the Campbell River General Hospital on Sept 9, 2019.
He was predeceased by his father James Collis, mother Dorothy Collis (nee Dafoe) and sister Jackie. Rick is survived by his loving wife Jill Collis, son Don Toovy (Garth) of Prince George, step daughters Toni Pattern and Suzie Patten, and his "little buddy" Brody Christensen of Campbell River, siblings Christine, Patricia, Wendy, Penny, Karen and Dan of Ontario and life long friend Bruce Grant (Kirsten), his "brother from another mother" and many nieces and nephews.
Rick's upbringing as a military kid sparked his love of travel. Joining the forces as soon as he was of age. Starting in the air force to commissioning in the navy. His fondest memory of the military was his time spent in Inuvik and Alert, NWT. Rick retired many times over the years but was always pulled back to work because of his love for teaching and training.
Over the last six years of Rick's life, he found the love of his life, Jill. They spent countless hours laughing together and exploring the world. It was during this time Rick met his wife's family who embraced him in their hearts
Rick was not only accepted as the new "in-law," but welcomed with love and friendship by Mark, Jane, Lorraine and so many other extended family members.
Rick made lasting impressions on so many people he met throughout his life. Please join us to commemorate and remember his life on Sept 21, 2019 at 2 pm, Willow Point Hall, Campbell River, BC
