Kemp, John

March 20, 1939 – July 17, 2014


On the morning of July 17, 2014 John passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at the age of 75 years. John was born in Grand River, Cape Breton Nova Scotia. John is predeceased by his mother and father, Donald and Mary Kemp.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy as well as his two sons Kevin (Laura) and Kenneth. He is also survived by his niece Lorna (Phillip and Olivia); Cousin Stewart (Sue, Ben and Sharon). John will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by many friends from Coast to Coast.

John has been a long time resident of Campbell River arriving in 1972. John retired from MacMillan Blodel and he was able to enjoy his many hobbies. John had a great love for the water. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wood working. John was proud of his Celtic heritage and had a great passion for his Celtic Music.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John Walker of Campbell River and the caring staff of the BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre for their support through John’s illness.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday July 26, 2014 ~ 11:00 a.m. at Sutton’s Campbell River Funeral Home with a reception to follow at the Canadian Legion. All are welcome.
