John Edison Herman commonly known as Ed Herman aged 94 years of Campbell River BC passed away at Broadmead Care in Victoria B.C., on December 11th, 2018. He spent his last day surrounded by and visiting with immediate family.

Ed Herman was born in Northfield BC on December 11th, 1924 to John and Josephine (Andre) Herman. He was raised in the Lantsville/Nanaimo area attending School in Red Gap and Parksville. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from March of 1943 until August of 1945 then worked extensively in the Coastal Forest Industry until retirement.

He enjoyed a long, active, and productive retirement of community work, sports and recreation, extensive travel, and of course family. He was particularly well known for both athletics and the fine arts as a young adult in the Lantzville and Parksville areas.

Ed Herman is survived by his wife Evelyn (Foskett) Herman formerly of Ladysmith, his children David and Diana Herman of Nanaimo, Lynn (Herman) Paddon of North Vancouver, Teresa (Herman) and David Norris of Victoria, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; as well as his brother Frank Herman and wife Pat, and sister Sharon (Herman) Slaughter and husband Al, all of Parksville B.C.

A memorial service is to be conducted at the McCall Gardens situated at 4665 Falaise Drive in Victoria BC V8Y 1B4 on Friday, January 4th, 2019 at 1pm.

He will be dearly missed.
