In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Caswell in hospital after a long struggle with various medical complications; he died in the early morning of December 6. John is survived by his wife Eileen Stearns, his children Michael John, and Christopher Lee Caswell, and Jody Lynn Caswell Hill, his grand children, Kyle and Adam Caswell, Tamsin and Alistair Hill, and his step-son Garrett Smith.
John was born in the remote mining town of Bissett, Manitoba. He had a life-long passion for aviation, and loved being a commercial bush pilot in Manitoba and on the BC coast. He started a career in mining and exploration as a young man. He later added to his activities running his water-well drilling company, which he moved, with his family and crew, from Manitoba to Courtenay, BC in 1978. His other passions included boating, camping, hiking, and being with his family. John loved all animals, particularly dogs. He believed in fostering community strength and so was a dedicated member of the Board of Directors of the Second Chance Supportive Recovery Society for many years. Also, John loved working on, and hosting, programs for CRTV in the early 2000s.
In 1989, John brought his sail boat and his two sons from Comox to Campbell River. He remained in this community until his death.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Campbell River Hospital wards 3A and 3D for their compassion and attentive medical care of our loved one. Thank you for your kindness to John and the family.
We miss you, John, every day.
