Jean Marion

Jean Marion Palek, born to Jean and John Hunter, on March 11, 1927 in Moosejaw, SK, passed away peacefully at the Evergreen Seniors Home in Campbell River, BC on March 5, 2008. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John, and her husband William Henry Palek on July 15, 1998. Jean leaves behind her loving daughter Christine (Ray) Sumner, who will miss her dearly and was always at her side whenever she called to take her shopping, for a coffee, or in her later years to comfort her and care for her whenever she needed, at any time of the day or night. Jean is also survived by her loving family; grandchildren, Sherry-Lynn Katherine Sumner, Deanna (Mike) Adams, Danielle (Boyd) Sumner and Victoria Sumner; great grandchildren, Vasilis, Sady, Hailey, Myra, Ava, Marissa, Nicky and Aden.

The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to Evergreen Seniors Home staff and residents, for the wonderful care mom received while there. You are like our extended family. A special thanks also goes to Luella, who was by mom’s side the last week of her life; to Barb Boniface for being there for us for so many years and to Kevin and Paulette for being by our side through it all!

A Memorial Service will be at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 34 South Alder Street, Campbell River, BC, on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Fr. Alfredo Monacelli officiating. A Reception will follow the Service at the Evergreen Seniors Home, 635A Evergreen Rd. Cremation is entrusted to Mission Hill Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Memory of Jean Palek may be made in her name to the Evergreen Seniors Home.
