Janet Adele Lloyd-Walters (nee Jack)

It is with great sadness that the family of Janet Adele (Jan-del) Lloyd-Walters announces her passing on the morning of July 6th, 2013 just as the sun rose over the mountains. While surrounded by love and nothing left unsaid, Mom lost her short, courageously fought battle with cancer.

Jan-del was born November 26, 1931 in North Vancouver, BC to parents George and Anne Jack. Jan-del moved to Galiano Island at the age of 11, a place she often referred to as paradise. It was there she would meet the love of her life and husband of sixty-two and a half years Jack. Together they moved around to different logging camps on the BC coast before finally settling in Campbell River.

Jan-del was predeceased by her parents, George in 1978, her beloved Mom Anne in 1996 and only Brother Harry in 1982. Jan-del is survived by her loving husband Jack and their five children, sons Craig (Adel), John (Lisa) and three daughters Janis Quinn (Lyle), Gale-Ann Maier (Aaron) and Georgie Smith (Wayne). Nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous joy. She was fiercely proud of each one.

Family was her greatest Joy. Mom loved to laugh, garden, read, knit cotton dishcloths, feed her family and dearly loved her animals. Mom was a kind, resourceful gentle lady with a wonderful laugh, strong work ethic and an even stronger sense of family which she instilled in each of her children and for that we are forever grateful.

Her family is especially thankful for the wonderful compassionate care Mom received. Special thanks to Dr. Lebeuf, Dr. Dhansay and the third floor nurses responsible for caring for Mom and us during her last two weeks.

At Mom’s request, the family will gather at a later date for a wiener roast at the beach. Friends wishing to remember Mom are asked that when gathered with your families this summer take a moment to think of her with a laugh and a smile.

Many thanks Mom for loving us unconditionally and for being such a beautiful example.
