Jana Maria Kraus
September 6, 1947-August 4, 2013
Jana Marie Kraus, 65, entered into eternal peace on Sunday 4th August 2013 at Yucalta Lodge, Campbell River, BC.
Jana was born on September 6, 1947 in Prague, Czech Republic. She defected to Canada in 1969 to start a new and adventurous life. Jana moved to Campbell River in 1985 with her family, and shortly after, began working for Painter’s Lodge, where she worked for more than 20 years.
Jana was a strong, stubborn, honest woman, full of life and with an infectious laugh.
Her devoted son, David Kraus, predeceased her in 2009, leaving behind his wife, Katie. She leaves behind her sister Mila in the Czech Republic, daughter Michelle (James), and her beautiful grandchildren Brennan, Sophie and Charlie. She leaves behind many other close and cherished friends, and many whom came to call Jana “Mom” as well.
She will be greatly missed by all the people she has touched over the years and will continue to live in our hearts.
Many thanks to the nursing staff at Yucalta Lodge for all of Jana’s care.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on
Saturday, 10th August 2013 at 2:00PM at
Elk Falls Crematorium and Reception Centre (General Hill).
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the ALS Society of BC can be made in her name.
