August 12, 1936 - October 9, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James (Jim) Herman Munro on October 9, 2020.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Georgia Munro, son Darren (Kristi), daughter Tanya (Brian), grandchildren Ryan, Kiah, Kasey and Kennedy, sister Peg Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents James and Mary Munro, brother John Munro, sister Rita Petrie.
Jim was born in Mission, BC on August 12, 1936. He grew up on Cortes Island, then in 1952, Jim and his family made the move to Campbell River where they opened up the Highway Super Market.
Jim started working in logging at an early age, and then was a fisherman until he suffered a traumatic injury. In 1965 he opened Island Outboard Boats and Motor with his life long friend Bill Woolsey until they sold the business in 2004.
In his retirement, Jim enjoyed tending his yard, his Sunday lunch dates with Georgia and his sisters, and spending time with his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses on 3C and Dr. Noelle for their compassionate care throughout.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Yuculta Lodge Auxillary @555 - 2nd Avenue, Campbell River.
