August 22, 2007

NICKERSON,

Jack Charles Roland

Our family announces Jack's passing peacefully at home wiht loved ones near, on Aug. 22nd, 2007.

Jack was born in Camrose, AB, June 28, 1919 and grew up in Clyde, AB. As a young man, he attended Alberta College; played hockey in Trail, BC; joined the Air Force in 1942; and married the love of his life, Catholine (Kay) Murphy in 1943. Their three children were born in AB and in 1960, the family moved to Campbell River and Jack and Kay made their roots where Jack was a businessman, salesman and carpenter, extraordinaire.

A devoted and gentle family man, he is lovingly remembered by Kay, his wife of 64 years; son Michael (Dianne); daughter Judy (Karl); daughter Jill; sister Margaret Greer; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; nine grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

His years of pain and confinement were lived courageously and without complaint. Kay's strength and love shone as she helped grant his wish to remain at home. This was shared by the teamwork of his skilled and compassionate Home Care nurses, Dr. Brian Carswell, Dr. Bruce Wood and many friends, for whom the family is forever thankful.

Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 27, 2007 at the Campbell River United Church at 1:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
