In Loving Memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Ian Rudiger. Ian was born in Cutknife SK, August 28, 1937; he passed away in Campbell River on May 8, 2024.

He is predeceased by his infant son Phillip (1964) and his wife, Therese Rudiger (nee Leroux), of 58 years (2021).

He is survived by his children : Tina (Zak), Rick (Christine), and Sandie, and grandchildren : Tori (Bran), Josh, Lucy (Serena), and Stella.

Ian was the youngest child of Jack (John Henry) Rudiger and Meta Rudiger (Kittel), he grew up in Lloydminster, SK. He was a loving son and reminisced fondly of adventures and shenanigans, jobs and responsibilities. He worked with his dad's paving company and became the youngest shift boss at 18.

In the early 1960s he bought his first business, a drive in restaurant in St. Paul, AB. There he met and married Therese and became a part of the extensive Leroux clan! They started a family in St. Paul but feeling a tug of adventure, eventually sold the business and moved to Penticton. Ian worked in construction there for a big company, and also started a small company designing and welding boat trailers.

Although they made many close connections in Penticton, where their youngest child was born, adventure called them again and this time to Vancouver Island. Here they mostly stayed, both doing a variety of jobs and putting down roots. Ian enjoyed fishing and hunting. Vancouver Island provided endless opportunity for exploring.

He spent some years building houses, he also worked for family friend, Lawrence Foort in maintenance and fish buying in Winter Harbour and then in Haida Gwaii. He enjoyed those years immensely.

Later he became a licensed pastor of the Foursquare church and spent many years mentoring and counselling with Therese. He was a renowned 'Mr. fix-it', able to trouble shoot a solution for almost anything, and a talented wood worker and picture framer. He was a generous and kind father, grandpa, husband and friend, always willing to lend a hand.

Many thanks to his bestie Blair, and close friends Fred and Dave for being there, especially these past three years. Thanks also to Dix, for holding dad's hand through the longest night.

A celebration of life for Ian and Therese will be held at Northgate Foursquare Church, 1640 Burgess Road in Courtenay at 2:30 PM on Saturday July 13, 2024.

No flowers please, but donations to a companion plaque on Therese's bench would be welcome.
