Howard Richard Lucas
January 12th, 1979 – November 12th, 2010
Howard died tragically in a house fire.
He is survived by his parents Mary and Paul Lucas, brothers David (Kim), Christopher (Alice), Matthew (Janelle) and sisters Catherine (Ryder) Birtwistle, and Sunnie (Gilles); his nephews and nieces: Michaela, Angelina, Nathan, Sidney, Emma, Garrett, Ella, Colin and Sammy; also his grandmother, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Howard was born and raised in Whitehorse Yukon until he was 19 years old. He moved to Vancouver Island and lived in Port Alberni, Nanaimo, and the last 8 years in Campbell River. Howard loved the outdoors: fishing in Haines Alaska, camping all over the Yukon, hiking and climbing in BC.
Howard had an extraordinary way with children; he was a much loved and special uncle. He loved animals a great deal and our dogs accompanied him on his final journey.
He was becoming a great chef and had fun in the kitchen whipping up tasty meals and treats for the family. Words cannot express the loss and sadness we all feel at losing our son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend. He will be forever missed and remembered.
A memorial Mass was held on November 17th at St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Campbell River.
We appreciate all the work that the Firefighters did to try and save Howard.
It is with heavy hearts that we say, “Until we meet again Howard!” If friends so desire, donations in memory of Howard may be made to the BC Children’s Hospital.
