Howie was born in Fenwood, Saskatchewan and passed away in the Campbell River Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He will be sadly missed by Angeline, his loving wife of 64 years, his children Berna Dean and partner Nancy, Beverley Anne, Michael his wife Ruth and three grandchildren Brittany, Nicole and Alexander, who were a special delight in his life, as well as three nieces.
Howie served in the United States Army before joining the Canadian Air Force in which he served until the end of the war, ending his military career at Comox Air Base where he decided to make a home and raise a family.
He formed and operated a log hauling company, moving to Campbell River in 1956, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed his involvement with the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Club. Being an outdoor man he enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling and playing golf. His happy disposition made him welcome wherever he went.
A celebration of Howie’s life will take place on Saturday, April 29th, 2006, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Discovery Masonic Hall, 2905 North Island Highway, Campbell River.
