Hilda Simons

October 19, 1924-May 19, 2013


Hilda was born October, 1924 in Provost, AB to Matt & Caroline Kobsar. She grew up in Melville, SK. The oldest of ten children, she began her working career as a nurses aide in the TB sanatorium in Ft Qu'Appelle, SK, moving then to Regina to work at Rainbow Laundry.

Hilda married Bill Gunther in 1946, then moved to Vancouver Island. Bill died in a logging accident Elk River Timber in 1962.

Hilda married Ed Simons in August 28, 1967. She worked in housekeeping at the hotel in Gold River. Ed and Hilda moved to Quesael, BC in 1971, where she worked in the food industry and retired managing a drive-in restaurant.

Predeceased by her first husband Bill, her parents, her grandson Terry, her brothers Matthew and Alex, her sisters Mary, Olga and Edith.

Hilda leaves to mourn her husband Ed, her dearly loved daughters Diane (Sam Cork), Barb McKinlay, her two brothers Arnold (Lee) and Joe (Sherry), sister Anne and Helen, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a special great-great grandson, 4 stepchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Campbell River Hospital Pallative Care Unit. The memorial service shall take place on Sat May 25, 1:00p.m.at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 201 Birch Street, Campbell River.
