February 6, 1919-December 27, 2015

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Helen Lorraine Young of Campbell River on December 27, 2015. Helen was born on February 6, 1919 on a small homestead in Saskatchewan.

Helen is survived by her sons Wayne Richard Wallis (Lynda) of Okanogan Falls, B.C., Derek Young (Sabina) of Birch Cove, AB., Jim Young (Arlene) of White Gull AB., Bob Young (Joyce) of Devon AB., Bill Young of Edmonton, AB.; daughters Judy McLean (Barrie) of Gold River, Patty Savoie (Bruce) of Campbell River, grandchildren Debbie Paul (Ken), Terry Wallis (Carla), Dwayne Wallis (Christine), Tina Young, Tanis Fong (Kelly), Chris Young, Daryl Young (Adrienne), David Young (Goi), Corey Young (Tiffany), Tavis Young, Heather Chuhan (Tej), Andrea Halina (Todd), Jesse McLean (Jessica), Jeremy Mclean (Ashley), Jenny Koziel, Matt Koziel. Many great and great-great grandchildren (26 in all ).

Predeceased by her loving husbands, Perce, in 1945 and second husband Jim in 2008, her father Albert, mother Jane, sister Alma and brother Andy.

Helen, mother and grandmother will be dearly missed, along with her frugal and caring personality which were all fortunately instilled with those who followed in her steps. She was a regal and fashionable lady who was not mesmerized with material items. Helen was quick witted, enjoyed playing games and winning, her books, and scrabble but most of all loved being around her family.

Celebration of Life will occur February 19th at 1:00p.m. at Dignity Memorial, 502 South Dogwood Street, Campbell River, B.C. 250-287-4812. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
