CAMPBELL,

Harold

July 15, 1931 ~ June 18, 2005

It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Harold. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 18, 2005. Harold was predeceased by his parents Matthew and Verna Campbell and by his sister Mildred Green. He leaves behind to mourn his wife Joyce, of 51 years, his children: Jo-Anne (Edward) Ivanisko, Robert (Pat) Campbell, Karen (Colin) Weinbender and Burt (Jane) Campbell and his 9 grandchildren Dyson, Auburn, Yari, Ashley, Kali, Jenna, Scott, Ben and Todd.

Harold was born in Hamiota, Manitoba, but moved to Geraldton, Ontario, where he was raised. Harold and Joyce were married March 27, 1954 in Kenora, Ontario. They lived in Geraldton and Atikokan, where he was employed as an electrician in the mines. They moved with their young family to Campbell River in 1966 where Harold started work as an electrician at the Elk Falls Paper MIll. He retired from the mill after 24 years in 1989.

Harold had a passion for boating. Harold and Joyce made countless trips on the coastal waters of British Columbia, Alaska, and Washington State. They had several boats, including the Kenogamissis and the Forest Ranger II. In 1993, after selling the F.R. II, Harold and Joyce bought the Ahoy II on the U.S. East Coast and proceeded to spend winters in Florida and the Bahamas until 2003. Their next adventures were land cruising in their motor home.

Harold was an active auxiliary member of the Coast Guard and enjoyed his many trips with them. He was founding member of the Tide Rippers Diving Club. Harold was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners club.

When he was home, Harold spent hours in his workshop making beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. We will miss his kind heart, knowledge and advice. His unique and wonderful sense of humor will always be remembered.
