Grace Hilda Francis

Grace was born April 1, 1928 in Camdon Town (London), England and passed away February 9, 2009 in Campbell River. She was predeceased by a grand daughter Erica Murphy (D’Alessandro) and her parents Doris and Tom Chapman. Grace is survived by her husband Ron Francis; son Ken Francis (Molly) of Campbell River; daughter Karen D’Alessandro (Al) of Campbell River; grandchildren Karen Bellavance (Dennis) and Korina Jhawer (Raj); great grandchildren Ashley, Scotia, Taylor, Cassidy, Inara and Asha; a brother Len Chapman (Eileen) of London, England and nieces and nephews Graham, Craig and Pauleen. Grace served for Mercantile Marine shipping federation. She belonged to a bowling league for 35 years, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Fishing Guide Association. Grace worked in the Campbell River Post Office and the hospitals in Chemainus and Ladysmith. Grace had many hobbies which included bowling, reading and knitting. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed many years of fishing on the waters in Campbell River with her one true love Ron. She also enjoyed long summer days on the deck relaxing with her dog Cash. Grace was a very gracious and generous person who touched the hearts of many. She loved her family and did all that she could for them. Fond memories from her grandchildren were fishing in the summertime on the boat and grandma’s famous home made soup and sausage rolls at Christmas. Island Funeral Services/Elk Falls Cremation and Reception Centre, 909 Island Highway, Campbell River entrusted with arrangements. A private family service will be held at a later date.
